Work packages

There are five superordinate work packages (WP), which in turn have been subdivided into various sub-work packages. There are numerous interfaces between the work packages, so that the key questions and goals of the project can be worked on in an interdisciplinary manner.
To get a detailed insight into the individual work packages and their goals and procedures, select one of the following WP.

Arbeitspaket 0

As part of the work package 0 the entire project is supervised, coordinated and managed.

Arbeitspaket 1

The changes in the North and Baltic Seas during the Anthropocene and their effects on their carbon stores and carbon exchange are to be examined in work package (WP) 1.

Arbeitspaket 2

The main objective of work package 2 is the consideraton of the role of sediments as carbon bioreactors and repositories.

Arbeitspaket 3

To simulate the reaction of the North-Sea/Baltic-Sea region with a special focus on carbon storage capacities for present and future climatic conditions and possible anthropogenic disturbances, a coupled hydrodynamic-biogeochemical modelling system will be developed. In detail, we will estimate balances of organic matter, nutrients, total alkalinity (TA), and dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) for the North-Sea/Baltic-Sea region.

Arbeitspaket 4

Work package 4 addresses the social perspective and prepares the information generated in work packages 1 to 3 for decision-makers. For this purpose, the following questions should be answered: Who are the relevant decision-makers? What do the decision-making processes look like? What information do they need to be able to make informed decisions? In which legal framework are they - both the decision-makers and the decisions themselves - embedded? How can the information be provided in the best possible way?
